Young Democrats of Washington

2008 Convention

About the Young Democrats

The Young Democrats of Washington is a political group with only two membership requirements—that you be under 36 years old and declare yourself to be a Democrat. The Young Democrats of Washington is focused on a few key objectives: issues and policy, community and public service, campaign work, training activists, and involvement in all levels of the Democratic party. We are committed to promoting Democratic Values and ensuring Young Voters have a voice and access to the political process.

The mission of the Young Democrats of Washington is to stimulate in young people an active interest in governmental affairs and promote their involvement in the political process, to promote the acquisition of political power by young people, and to foster and perpetuate the ideals and principles of the highest degrees of justice and social welfare.

The Young Democrats of Washington is an ever evolving organization that relies on the input of our membership to guide its activities.

This past year YDWA hosted our 3rd Annual Lobby Day to talk to our Representatives about the issues that we care about and participated in the Democratic process as volunteers and through the caucus process.  Going into next year we are excited to be a part of the 2008 Elections Cycle!

Get Involved

Want to get more involved in YDWA?  Convention is a great way to start.

At convention you can run for office, join a caucus, or be a part of a committee to help decide the future of YDWA.

You can also just get to know other YDWA members and give your input on activities for the upcoming year.  We always welcome ideas and, of course, help!
