Vancouver and Clark County--Things to Do

Vancouver

In Vancouver and around our hotel there are plenty of additional things to do.  When you're not in trainings and taking part in the YDWA Convention of course!

If you'd like to take a little bit of time to catch some fresh air, Esther Short Park is right across the street from our hotel, with a view of the Salmon Bell Tower from our meeting rooms.  A great place to head to after picking up some lunch at one of the great local restaurants in the area.

If history is more your style, Vancouver has plenty of that too down at the Historic Reserve.  Officers Row, Fort Vancouver, and Pearson Air Museum are all just a short distance away.

Clark County

The rest of Clark County is beautiful and also easy to get to from Vancouver!  Take some time after General Session to go exploring the rest of the area--Southwest Washington has something for everyone.

Whether you head out to Moulton Falls in North County, see wildlife in its natural habitat in Ridgefield at the Nature Preserve, or go see local business in action in Camas. There is always something to see in Clark County.

Surrounding Area

Southwest Washington is best known for one thing: Mount St Helens.  It's a little over an hour drive North, and can be seen on a clear day from almost anywhere in the area.

Vancouver is right on the Washington border, and some folks might want to take a trip across it.  Portland has plenty of great food, shopping, and recreational opportunities.  For those who love books (political or not) a trip to Powell's is a must for anyone crossing the river.

For More Information

You should visit the Southwest Washington Visitors Bureau Website at www.southwestwashington.com or just ask one of the Clark County YDs where to go!

Vancouver and Clark County--Places to Go

We have many great restaurants and shops within walking and driving distance from the hotel.  Walk to Starbucks, grab a drink at McMenamin's, or just explore downtown to find something of your own taste--you won't be disappointed.

Did you know?

Vancouver is the 4th largest city in Washington.  It was incorporated in 1857 (settled in 1825) and named for Captain George Vancouver.

Clark County was named for William Clark and was the first County in Washington--at one point it covered the whole state!
